Jan obtained a Bachelor’s degree in University Studies in 1989, from Eastern New Mexico University and completed a Master’s degree in Social Work in 1998 at New Mexico State University. She is currently a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Board Approved Supervisor for the State of Texas and Licensed Clinical Social in New Mexico.
Jan has experience in a variety of social work settings: Protective Services, School Social Work, Dialysis Social Work, Hospice Social Work, Long Term Care Social Work, Mental Health and Hospital Social Work. She spent 3 years as an adjunct instructor at Angelo State University Social Work Program. Currently, Jan facilitates 2 Combat PTSD Support Groups at West Texas Counseling and Guidance.
She is trained and is a certified provider for Cognitive Processing Therapy through the Department of Veteran Affairs. Jan retired from the Department of Veteran Affairs after 12 years of service as a trauma therapist for working with veterans diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and survivors of Military Sexual Trauma. Jan has worked part-time with West Texas Counseling & Guidance for 5 years.
Jan has been with the 11th Congressional District in Texas as a Congressional Aide with emphasis on Federal Veterans Cases for the past 6 years.
She is married and has 4 children and 4 grandchildren. Hobbies include genealogy, gardening, watercolor, and making functional and decorative pottery.
Jan is officed on the 6th floor of the Cactus Hotel.
